Joshua Tree Log Study (6), 2024, relief print on found paper

This relief print is based on a log I observed in Joshua Tree National Park. The grooves formed the most captivating channels, calling to mind both a flowing river and wind traveling through the tallgrass plains. I carved an homage to it on a polystyrene printing plate before I traveled back home to the northwest.

In the printmaking process, an artist’s proof can be part of the journey to creating an edition of identical prints. Each proof is slightly unique, with variations that demonstrate experiments with different blends and quantities of ink. These are titled, signed, and marked with “A/P” (Artist’s Proof) on the front. Dated/numbered on the back.
